Solar panels are the backbone of any solar panels system, they are essential in converting solar radiation to electricity that we can use to power our houses and run electrical appliances at our homes. In today’s post, I am going to take a look at one of the most used solar panels, the 250 watt solar panel.

What is the size of a 250 watt solar panel?
The common size for a 250 Watt 60 cell solar panel be it monocrystalline or polycrystalline is 39 inches X 66 inches (3.25 ft X 5.5 ft) and the weight of a 250 watt 60 cell solar panel is around 19 kg.
How many solar panels do I need for 250 watts?
How many 250-watt solar panels do I need?
The amount of 250 watt solar panels that you need for your project depends on how many items to you want to run by using 250 watt solar panels.
The first thing you need to do is to add the amount of power that each unit you are going to use (each electronic unit has a sticker that will tell you how much watts they consume).
Take that number and multiply by the time that you expect to use them per day, let’s say you have 5 lamps and each one is consuming 20 watts and you are expecting them to be on for at least 8 hours.
The total power would be 5x20x8=800, that is 800 watts-hours, do this for every item you have in your household and add the number up.
Second, take into account power loss due to the inverter and wiring, multiply the answer you got in the first step, and multiply it by 1.2.
If in the first step you got 2000 watts-hour it should be 1.2×2000, that is 2400.
Check out how many sun hours you get in your area, for calculation sake let’s say that on average you get 6 sunny hours per day, divide 2400/6 that is 800 watts.
Now to find out how many 250 watts of solar panels do you need to take that number, in this case, 800 watts, and divide it by 250. 800/250=3.2 since there is no 1/5 of a solar panel you will need 4 250 watts solar panels for your project.
Conclusion
That is all for the 250 watt solar panel, we went through some basics of this segment of the solar panels, if you have any questions let us know in the comment section below and we should answer them as soon as we can.
